Several hundred models of grids: vary according to
– Number of Mesh (holes) 75 mesh, 200 meh, 400 mesh
– Mesh shape: square, rectangular, hexagonal, …
– Presence or no markers , finder grids
– Materials: Copper, Nickel, gold, plastic, carbon, ….
Criteria for choosing a grid template
1st criterion: materials.
The material constituting the grid must not interfere in the analysis of the sample
For example: Nickel is recommended for immunogold, gold for cytochemistry, plastic X analysis (search for materials), …… .;
2nd Criterion: size of the mesh
Large mesh ex: 50 to 100 mesh for observations at low magnification as large cell structures as the nucleus
or overviews of the cell or tissue
Small mesh: 200 to 500 mesh for observation of small objects or cellular constituents at high magnifications
