Description
This is rapid fixative. Results with good nuclear detail and minimal formalin pigment. Davidson’s (Hartmann’s) Fixative is useful for preparing tumors, bone marrow, gynecologic specimen, fatty breast, medical biopsies. Fixation of small specimen is rapid. Exposure to the fixative should be limited to 24 hours (tissue may then be transferred to neutral buffered formalin or
70% alcohol for storage). Based on the volume of 1125 ml solution, there are 2 parts Formalin (35-39%), 3 parts Ethanol, 1 part Glacial Acetic acid, and 3 parts tap water.
